Amy Gall, from Swan Bay NSW, has committed to several changes in her agricultural practices, starting with rotational grazing. This practice involves moving livestock between pastures to prevent overgrazing and promote healthier soil and plant growth. Additionally, she is experimenting with ideas on a small scale to identify what works best for her farm. This approach allows her to test new methods without significant risk, ensuring that only the most effective strategies are scaled up. Another significant change Amy is focusing on is understanding her “Why” better, which helps her stay focused and avoid distractions. By having a clear vision and purpose, she can make more informed decisions that align with her long-term goals.

The role of the mentor was crucial for Amy’s learning and development throughout the RAMP program. She found her mentor Gavin Tinning to be a perfect match for her farming advice needs, both in terms of skills and personality. His guidance was instrumental in helping her navigate the complexities of regenerative agriculture. Amy also highly valued the group mentoring aspect of the program, appreciating the connection with like-minded individuals. These relationships provided a supportive environment where participants could brainstorm, share stories, and offer advice, which was one of the most beneficial aspects of the course for her. Amy’s advice to new participants in the RAMP program is to make the most of group activities and field days. She emphasises the importance of acknowledging and considering the diverse perspectives and ideas shared by others. Amy encourages new mentees not to hesitate in asking questions and sharing their own thoughts and ideas. This openness and willingness to engage with the group can significantly enhance the learning experience and lead to more robust outcomes.

The webinar that Amy found most beneficial was “Topic 4: Your Vision & Financial Management” with Glen Chapman. This session helped her to focus on her financial management skills and align them with her overall vision for her farm. By integrating these principles, Amy can better manage her resources and ensure the sustainability of her farming practices. This holistic approach to vision and financial management was a key takeaway from the program, providing her with valuable insights that she can apply to her agricultural operations.
