Valuable information for farmers
Through the RAMP workbook, and advice provided by their mentor and fellow farmers, this participant was able to learn more about:
- The impact of set stocking and rotational grazing.
- The processes leading to soil structure decline in your area.
Experience on the RAMP
When asked what they enjoyed most about the program, the participant noted ‘The Mentor’s experience’ and ‘Learning about other group member’s journeys’.
When asked ‘if you were going to share some advice to someone who is about to begin the RAMP program, what would it be?’
The participant gave the advice to:
‘Be open minded and take on board suggestions from other group members, as you don’t know where it will lead!’
Increasing ground cover
The farmer has now transitioned to 95% ground cover after participating in RAMP and has 50 hectares used for rotational grazing.
Additionally the participant felt they had very high knowledge when considering:
- The role of remnant vegetation in supporting the natural ecosystem.
- The impacts of stock on waterways health and native vegetation.
- The impacts of constructing interventions in the landscape or waterways (such as leaky weirs) to slow the flow of water.
And both regenerative agriculture principles and practices!
