Understanding regenerative principles and
practices

Sarah Johnson, from Upper Corindi NSW, has a solid understanding of regenerative agriculture practices and principles, with knowledge levels rated at 4 and 5 (out of 5), respectively. She found the presentation on Ecosystem Services (Carbon) with Dr. Lorraine Gordon to be the most beneficial, highlighting its impact on her learning (available freely from the RAMP website). Sarah valued the group mentoring aspect of the RAMP program, appreciating the shared experiments and knowledge within the group, which fostered a supportive and nurturing environment.

Meeting expectations

The program met Sarah’s expectations, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with others. The mentorship from Brian Wehlburg, a great practitioner she had previously worked with, was pivotal. Despite having covered similar content in a previous two-day course, Brian’s style of questioning and learner-led approach continued to benefit Sarah’s understanding and application of regenerative practices.

Practice changes

Sarah committed to several practice changes as a result of the program. She is creating a biodiversity corridor on her farm and using cattle to manage blady grass with molasses spray. Additionally, she is experimenting with alternative cattle husbandry treatments to prevent negative impacts on biodiversity, demonstrating her proactive approach to integrating new techniques learned during the program.

Overall, the RAMP program has been a transformative experience for Sarah. The combination of expert presentations, supportive group mentoring, and practical application of new practices has significantly enhanced her approach to regenerative agriculture. She values the connections made and the continuous learning environment fostered by the program, which has reinforced her commitment to sustainable farming practices.
