Changes to farming practices
The mentee has undertaken significant changes in their farming practices, reflecting a proactive commitment to enhancing sustainability and productivity. They have adopted adaptive grazing management techniques to improve pasture growth and recovery, recognising the potential benefits in optimising grazing pressure and promoting soil health. Additionally, they have committed to implementing cover or pasture cropping to increase diversity and promote microbial activity in the soil, aiming to enhance soil fertility and reduce reliance on synthetic inputs.
Furthermore, the mentee has prioritised reducing the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers, focusing on increasing microbial populations in the soil to cultivate a more resilient and sustainable farming system.
